CHMR-FM
Memorial University of Newfoundland's campus and community radio station provides the Alder Institute with a weekly one hour time slot in which Open Air is broadcast.

Important Bird Areas Program (2001)
In Newfoundland and Labrador the Important Bird Areas (IBA) program is spearheaded by the Natural History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.  The Canadian IBA program was launched in 1996 by the Canadian Nature Federation and Bird Studies Canada, the Canadian BirdLife partners. A number of pieces broadcast on our community radio program Open Air were brought to you thanks to the IBA program.

Thanks to Sennheiser Canada and their Atlantic Representative, Shawn Crockard of Gain Marketing in Nova Scotia, Alder acquired our first specialized nature recording microphone.  With this microphone, a MKH-20 we are collecting the bird sounds of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Swarovski Optics and Kindermann Canada
Thanks to Kindermann Canada and Swarovski the Alder Institute had the loan of a fabulous pair of binoculars and a spotting scope which we were later able to purchase.  

Telinga microphones
Thanks to Telinga for supplying us with a parabola for enhancing our ability to record natural sounds including the  bird sounds of Newfoundland and Labrador.
